Terrifying sight "of a ship in the open sea
In a horrifying scenario that left 20 crew members missing, a tropical storm split in half and split a ship in half.
The yacht was cut in half in the waters opposite Hong Kong as Tropical Storm Chaba passed, according to the authorities, and its whole crew of more than 20 people went missing.
The government's aviation service reported that three of the vessel's 30 crew members had been saved, and that search and rescue efforts were still ongoing 300 kilometers south-west of the city.
Rescue efforts were being hampered by the fact that several crew members had deserted the ship and bad weather. Chaba passed through the center of the world's financial system, bringing with it severe winds, torrential rain, and transportation disruptions that forced many businesses to close.
On Saturday afternoon, the Hong Kong meteorological office downgraded its storm warning level to 3rd, with storm Chaba predicted to make landfall close to Zhangyang in China's Guangdong Province.
